  4. Here are some features and other items of note for DropStuff with Expander Enhancer.  For more detailed information and instructions please read the documents “DropStuff™ Read Me” and “Expander Enhancer Read Me” located in the “Read Us First!” folder.

  6. DropStuff 4.0
  7. ------------
  8. Compress and expands items faster than previous versions. 
  9. Expander Enhancer now supports Tar files (.tar)
  10. Expander Enhancer now offers multi-file and segmented file support for BinHex and UUCode. This means that multiple files in a single text document, as well as a file broken into several pieces can now be expanded, and specific “header” lines are no longer required.
  11. DropStuff will now replace files when asked instead of just renaming on a collision.
  12. The “delete originals” and “encrypt” checkboxes in the Stuff dialog are now set to match the preferences. 
  13. Fixed a problem involving Type 11 errors on PowerPC’s when using DropStuff to stuff certain files.

  19.     Added support for expansion of files created by StuffIt SpaceSaver 3.5.

  30. This version will properly install on machines whose users already own Aladdin Systems’ StuffIt SpaceSaver, StuffIt Deluxe, or SITcomm products.

  32. Key Modifiers for DropStuff
  33. -------------------------
  34. While dragging and dropping a file on DropStuff...
  35.      Holding down the control key will delete the original after Stuffing is finished.
  36.      Holding down the option key brings up the one-time preferences dialog.  Any preferences you set in the preferences dialog will be used for the current Stuffing operation only.

  38. What gets added to StuffIt Expander
  39. --------------------------------
  40. When DropStuff with Expander Enhancer is installed, it enables StuffIt Expander to expand files compressed with virtually every compression format found on the Macintosh, Unix systems, and IBM-PCs and compatibles. These include: StuffIt (.sit), Compact Pro (.cpt), ZIP (.zip), ARC (.arc), AppleLink (.pkg), gzip (.gz), Unix Compress (.Z), TAR (.tar)  and StuffIt SpaceSaver files. Expander Enhancer also enables StuffIt Expander to expand files “encoded” in UUEncoded (.uu) and Tar (.tar) formats. It will also join files that were segmented with another StuffIt product.

  42. In addition, expansion of StuffIt, Compact Pro, BinHex, ZIP and ARC files will occur at accelerated speeds on a Power Macintosh (expansion of a sample StuffIt archive happens more than 5 times faster on a Power Macintosh 6100/66 than on a IIci).
